Preserving India's Heritage: Insights from the Custodians of Legacy Panel Discussion

The panel discussion titled "Custodians of Legacy - Preserving India's Traditions, Temples, and Trusts in Modern Times" was held on 16 January 2025 at the GLC Auditorium, Government Law College, Churchgate, Mumbai. Organized by the Committee for Diversification of Legal Services in collaboration with the Constitution Club and Ohm Jyoti Trust, the event brought together distinguished experts to explore the vital role of custodians in safeguarding India's rich cultural and legal heritage. Focusing on the preservation and management of temples and trusts, the discussion addressed the

challenges and responsibilities faced in maintaining these legacies amid rapid modernization and evolving societal values

The esteemed panel included Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Executive Director, HRH Group of Hotels; Mr. Lalit Gandhi, Chairman (Rank of Minister of State) of the Jain Minority Financial Development Corporation; and Ms. Ashoo Gupta, Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Company. The session was also honored by the presence of Ms. Krutika Tembhurnikar, Professor-in-Charge, and Ms. Asmita A. Vaidya, Principal of Government Law College.

Through insightful dialogue, the event underscored the importance of proactive stewardship, legal reforms, and community engagement to ensure that India's traditions and institutional legacies continue to thrive for generations to come.
