Lokbhushan Samman to Dr. Mahendra Bhanawat

Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar honored Dr. Mahendra Bhanawat, a Hindi folklorist, for receiving the Lokbhushan Samman from the Uttar Pradesh Hindi Institute in Lucknow. The award was given to Dr. Bhanawat for his outstanding contributions to Indian folklore and folk tradition. Mr. Mewar presented Dr. Bhanawat with the award, which includes a cash prize of Rs. 2,50,000, a copper plate, and a shawl. Dr. Bhanawat was also the recipient of the first Maharana Sajjan Singh Award from the Maharana Mewar Foundation in 1984. In his remarks, Mr. Mewar said that Dr. Bhanawat is a living legend in the field of Indian folklore. He praised Dr. Bhanawat's work in documenting and preserving traditional folktales and songs. He also said that Dr. Bhanawat's work has helped to keep alive the rich cultural heritage of India. Dr. Bhanawat expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mewar and the Uttar Pradesh Hindi Institute for the award. He said that he is deeply honored to receive the award and that he will continue to work to promote Indian folklore.
