Matki Fod event on the occasion of Janmashtami

Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar was Chief Guest at the matki fod event to mark the celebration of Shree Krishna Janmashtami at Subhash Chandra Bose Choraha at Udaipur organised by Shiv Dal Mewar. The event witnessed teams forming a human pyramid in order to reach an earthen pot tied at a height of 24 feet. 7 teams from different localities of Udaipur took part in the event and Om Saidham stood victorious after 3 hours of rigorous effort. Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the eighth day of the dark half (Krishna Paksha) of the month of Shraavana in the Hindu calendar, when the Rohini Nakshatram is in ascendance. The Hindu calendar being lunar, these two events (the eighth day being that of the waning moon (Krishna-paksha Ashtami) when Rohini Nakshatram is in ascendance) only overlap for a few hours. In such an event, the festival may be celebrated on different (but successive) days by different people, depending on their local or family traditions.
